Robbie McMahon and the Spancilhill Fair 

Clare traditional singer, Robbie McMahon sang the definite rendition of ‘Spancilhill’. He passed away in Dec. 2012. Bannerboy interviewed him a number of years back & as a timely tribute we’ve created a short film on the man himself, the song’s background and the relevant Fait at Spancilhill.

Only a Few Minutes Away – short film

We completed post-production on this short thriller in early 2018. It was screened in the Eye Cinema, Galway in May as part of a collage of shorts. (To be added to site later)

Promotional Trailers / Revealers for Galway Film Fleadh (GFF)

In 2017 Bannerboy collaborated with the GFF to cut promotional Trailers / Revealers for a number of full-length films being shown at the Fleadh.

‘Should the Sun go down on Galway Che?’ (2013)

This story concerns Che Guevara’s connection to the West of Ireland and the 2012 proposal by Galway City Council to erect a statue in his honour on the Salthill promenade. This Short screened at a number of Film Festivals around Ireland. The film is now available online and a  link to it can be found HERE .

Tina McLoughlin – Music Maker (2014)

Short film about German Irish musician, Tina McLaughlin now resident in North Dublin

‘Woodford Treshing Day’ (2010)

The short documentary was filmed on the Lyon’s farm in Woodford , Galway in September 2010
and captures the traditional customs of Treshing and Butter-making.

‘Deirdre’s Passions’ – Way out West  (2009)


The story of  late Galway author Deirdre Manifold, one-time girlfriend of Irish writer Patrick Kavanagh. It screened at the 2009 Galway Film Fleadh , Kerry Film Festival and shortlisted for Best Documentary at the 2010 Fastnet Film Festival.

The Deirdre’s Passions documentary looks at the 5-year relationship between the titular old woman and Irish writer, Patrick Kavanagh.

‘One Galway – Two Wheels’ (2008)

‘One Galway – Two Wheels’ is a short documentary project assisted by Galway Film Centre in 2008. It focused on Cycling issues in Galway & was scripted and directed by Ger Considine.

This short  screened at Adventure Festivals and the Belfast NvTV Community TV.

Patrick Kavanagh Literary Events (Ongoing)

These promotional videos were filmed at the various Kavanagh Literary events in Galway.

Crumlin hospital cheque handover

The story of one man’s endeavour to participate in the Navan-Galway Charity Cycle.  Mr Eamonn Coughlan TD presented a substantial group cheque to  Crumlin Children’s Hospital.
